New CD…My Family Tree…released in early ‘09

Alex Dixon’s new CD, My Family Tree, will be released in early 2009. His first CD, The Vintage Room, featuring bluesman Cash McCall, was strictly a Chicago Blues CD, which is strictly Alex’s roots. This next CD focuses on all the genres that was influenced by the blues. Alex was lucky enough to be taught by his grandfather and to be around him when he met the numerous rock bands that had recorded his music. Some of it might have rubbed off on him…
The CD features BB Chung King on guitar and vocals, Marcy Levy on vocals, James Gadson on drums, Gerald Johnson on bass, Alvino Bennett on drums, Michael Fell on harmonica and Dave Dills on vocals. And, of course, Alex on the keys! A sneak peak is now available at www.myspace.com/dixonlandingmusic2.

Hey Blues Fans,
Just wanted to give you some updates as to what’s going on with Dixon Landing Music:
1) In June we headed out to Chicago for a live recording of “HOT BLUES NIGHTS…LIVE AT 2120!” at the former Chess Studios at 2120 S. Michigan Ave. in Chicago! There were amazing performances from David Jacobs-Strain, Nellie “Tiger” Travis, Lurrie Bell, Mud Morganfield, Pamela Threats, Cash McCall…along with a few special guest appearances! Look for the CD of the live recording to be released in early 2009!
2) We are excited to announce that Zach Prather recently joined our label. Zach brings part blues, part funk, a little rock and a whole lotta excitement in his music. Check out his Artist page on our site! http://www.dixonlandingmusic.com/artists/zach-prather/
3) We will be back in the studio in August to record a new CD, which will be “loaded with the blues”, featuring Alex Dixon on piano, Gerald Johnson on bass (Steve Miller Band), Alvino Bennett on drums (Dave Mason), Vinny Threats on drums, BB Chung King (the Buddaheads), Michael Fell on harp…and special guest vocalists!
